Reflection Post 2
Today we looked at screen casting to upload videos to our blog.
My video was this article my Losurdo. It’s a very interesting read.
I reckon h5p tools could potentially be a useful tool in the event of another global pandemic where students are required to stay home. I probably wouldn’t use it otherwise.
Audio/video editing could be used in high school English classes as summative assessments to demonstrate learning. Perhaps students prefer to make a video essay over the traditional kind, or maybe they wan’t to do a Baz Luhrmann style adaptation of a Shakespeare scene.
Multimedia learning theory says people learn best through a combination of words and pictures. that can help making better tutorial videos through editing and slide shows and switching between a speaker and content.
In a flipped English classroom, direct instruction happens at home and practice, discussion, and analysis happen in class. At home students would engage with content that would traditionally be delivered as a lecture. This could be short teacher-made videos on literary devices, historical or cultural context, essay structure, etc. It could also be assigned readings or quizzes. This frees up class time for collaborative activities like discussions, workshops, or creative projects. However, it might be challenging to get high school students to engage with much course work outside of the classroom.
